Crazy days Festival: music of passion from 17 countries
Deputy head of Administration of Yekaterinburg on social policy Mikhail Matveev on Friday, 11 September 2015, took part in the opening of the festival ’s Crazy days in Ekaterinburg”.
The ceremony, which was notable for the appearance of the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic choir and a dancing brass band ’s Ural-Band” under control of the honored worker of arts of the Russian Federation, Colonel Alexander Pavlov, took place before the building of the Sverdlovsk musical College named after P. I. Tchaikovsky (street Pervomayskaya, 22).
Recall that La Folle Journée (“Crazy day”) is an international music festival that was first held in 1995 in the French city of Nantes. For 20 years he has become known throughout the world and takes place in Spain, Japan, France, Poland, and in 2015 will be held for the first time in Russia. The festival will be held in the capital of the Urals, from 11 to 13 September.
Three days 70 short concert programs (each 45-60 minutes), follow one after the other at six venues: the Grand and chamber halls of the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic, Sverdlovsk musical College named after P. I. Tchaikovsky, Educational theatre Ekaterinburg theatre Institute, Chamber theatre United Museum of Ural writers and House music.
The organizer of large-scale cultural events became Sverdlovsk state academic Philharmonic. Assistance was also provided by the city Administration of Ekaterinburg.
At the opening ceremony of the festival, the organizer of the concert activity of Russian musicians in Europe Marina Bauer. She noted that the French public had no idea about what the Urals and Ekaterinburg, went on a tour of the Ural academic Philharmonic orchestra conducted by Dmitry Liss. After the orchestra from Ekaterinburg became part of the cultural life of France, and Rene Martin decided to spend their unique festival in the capital of the Urals. “Impossible” – this line of the poem by Alexander Blok became our motto”, – said Marina Bauer.
“Our festival takes place in many countries, and this year it will be held in Russia, in Yekaterinburg. I thank the local authorities for what they believed in us, and invite everyone to concerts», – said the founder of the festival, the famous French producer Rene Martin.
The main idea of the festival is to make classical music known to a wider circle of citizens and visitors have a chance to come into contact with high art in a short time, in a fairly simple manner and at an affordable price (100-150 rubles).
In Ekaterinburg was attended by more than 300 musicians from 17 countries. Residents will meet with renowned Baroque ensemble Ricercar Consort (Belgium), Prazak string Quartet (Czech Republic), trios accordionists Motion Trio (Poland), as well as artists from France, Spain, Germany, Sweden and the USA. The festival will be attended by groups of Sverdlovsk Philharmonic: the Ural Philharmonic orchestra, Ural youth orchestra, Symphonic choir and musicians Ekaterinburg, Chamber orchestra ’s B-A-C-H”, Chamber choir “Domestic” and the medieval music ensemble Flos Florum.
This year La Folle Journée in all countries represents a single theme, “Passion” (“Passions”). The festival ’s Crazy days in Ekaterinburg” was subtitled “the passion of the earthly and the heavenly”. In the program – works in which composers from different eras, each in its own was looking for answers to eternal questions.

Good day, dear citizens and guests of Ekaterinburg city. Today in our city hosts an international music festival ’s Crazy days”. This wonderful, unique project for 20 years, but the first time it takes place in Russia, and we are very happy that it is in Ekaterinburg. On behalf of the city Administration of Ekaterinburg from all of you and I want to thank the Creator of the festival of Rene Martin and Sverdlovsk Philharmonic. When the Director of the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic society Alexander Colacurci voiced the idea of holding the festival ’s Crazy days” in our town, we had no doubt that it is good for Ekaterinburg and its inhabitants that we have her support. The festival’s goal is to make classical music accessible to the masses. Concerts will be held at six venues over three days, which will allow each listener to create your own music route and to reach the maximum of the festival program. It will be very interesting, because the festival is attended by the stars of the world stage as soloists and ensembles. “Crazy” will be a significant event in the cultural life of Yekaterinburg, we remember them. I hope that the festival will register with us and become a good tradition. In a good way!
